Greetings,
I was born in Harlem, a community located in New York City, baptized and grew up as a member of St. AndrewÕs Episcopal Church in New York.
I served my country in the Army and did a tour in Viet Nam. Upon my return from the war, I was employed by the New York Public Library. After a few years of work, I decided to attend The Germain School of Photography. I graduated in 1980 with a certificate of completion with four gold mentions. For the remainder of my thirty years at the New York Public Library I was their photographer.
For six years, I was a member of the Brotherhood of St. Gregory, an Episcopal order within the Episcopal Church. This order was unique in that brothers were allowed to marry and I do have a wife, Claire, a daughter, son-in-law and three grand children. My daughter is a teacher in the Hampton public school system.
I was called to the deacon formation program in 1993 and was ordained in 1997 in the diocese of New York by Bishop Grein in the 16th year of his consecration.
My wife and I retired five years ago and settled in Hampton so that we could be closer to family. I now substitute teach in the Hampton school system on occasion, something I enjoy tremendously.
That which gives us great joy and peace is the love given at our home and church, Emmanuel Ð Hampton. My degree in gerontology offers and supports my joy at serving members of my congregation during visits to our elderly, sick and shut-ins.
GodÕs peace be with you,
Rev. Earl R. Christian
