The Mission Committee cordially invites you to its second annual live auction and dinner event on Saturday, May 3rd, at church at 6:00 pm.
Why: To support the mission work here at Emmanuel. Carol Bowers eloquently summed up Emmanuel’s mission work as part of our current fundraising effort: The Mission Team of Emmanuel Episcopal Church is committed to both domestic and overseas mission projects. Over the last five years, we have traveled to and partnered with a sister parish in Belize, Central America; we have sponsored teenagers from Belize to attend summer camp in the United States; we have purchased uniforms for the Holy Cross School in Belize; we have shipped over 12,000 pounds of books to the schools in Belize; we have sent teams to the Gulf Coast to assist with hurricane Katrina relief; and we have worked in McDowell County, WV, to assist those who are down on their luck due to circumstances over which they have little or no control. We thank you for the support you give Emmanuel’s mission work year around that makes all of these efforts possible, and encourage you to join us for this annual fundraiser.
What: A festive evening of multicultural fun as we enjoy traditional Italian fare and bid on some exciting items during the live auction with auctioneer Donn Weaver. There will be authentic Italian food and drink, thanks to Chef Theresa Wright. The menu includes antipasto, chicken parmesan with a side of pasta, Italian salad and bread, rum cake or cookies with sorbet. There will also be an alternative children’s dinner of hot dogs and corn for those 12 and younger who so desire. Come enjoy mandolin music from our strolling musician as you dine in our Italian cafe. We had lots of fun with our Cinco de Mayo event last year. We hope you will join us for this year’s Festa Italiano and auction, all to help mission work at Emmanuel.
Cost: Children: $5.00, adults: $10.00, maximum family cost: $25.00. Tickets go on sell Sunday, April 13th.
Children’s Corner: We will have a “counting” activity for the children. During the auction itself, there will be a movie for them. A nursery will also be available.
Transportation: We would be delighted to provide transportation to and from the dinner/auction for anyone who needs it. (Call Tom or Cindy Bell: 723-0430)
